Beings like her only have three options, become a Sentinel (best case scenario), become a Guard (still an okay scenario) or become a servant (worst case scenario). With that being said, I gave this book a five star rating way back when I first read it and now that I’ve reread it, I’m still giving it five stars, because it deserves it!Īs the description of the book says, this story follows Alexandria (Alex) she is a seventeen year old Half Blood that has been training since she was a kid to became a Sentinel. I love this book series and no one is changing my mind that it’s a really fresh and awesome concept. I want to get this out of the way, I’ve heard that many people think this sounds a lot like The Vampire Academy book series but with Greek influences, I have not read that series and at this point I don’t think I’ll ever will so there is no way for me to know if this is real or not, so there is that. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn’t her biggest problem–staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is.

Unfortunately, she’s crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Children of Hematoi and mortals–well, not so much.

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi pure bloods have godlike powers. Let’s hear what the first book, Half-Blood is all about: I started late last month (January) with Half Blood and I’m right back in love with this series.Īs I read this series way before I had this wonderful blog, I didn’t really get a chance to gush to you guys about how amazing this series is, but since I’m rereading the whole series I thought it would be fun to write a book talk for each of the books as I read them. It has been a while since I’ve visited The Covenant Series world, I’ve read some of my favorite scenes over the years, but I haven’t done a decent reread.

Today I want to talk to you about one of my favorite book series of all time. I know I say this a lot, but I really hope I can write more book talks and reviews from now on, because gosh I don’t want to get sick anymore (I was really sick for like three weeks last month so writing was definitely not a priority, but I’m better now!) I know I’ve been so absent from here for over a month now, but I’m back now.
